Hi DB605A, yes new engine harness was installed. I got the car back last Thursday with the LPG fuel system. Everything works fine. I'm a happy saver now .

You were asking for Diesel price in Germany: I saw 100,9 Cent per liter at the gas station today. Gasoline was 114,9 Cent p.l.

As I explained, I had the car in a garage for LPG fuel system installation when the mechanic found the calbleform with rotten insulation. They ordered the cableform from a local MB dealer for 697 Euro plus tax (19%) and installed it for me. Cableforms for gasoline engines seem to be more expensive than those for Diesels...

of course they are... diesels don't need any of the ignition parts ;-)

The problem with the motorwireharness is a well known an the biggest problem of that is, that when driven much longer there is the possibility of damaging your motorblackbox. Don't drive.

Get a harness as soon as possible. the changing process is very easy.

I know someone who builds harnesses himself. They are worlds better than the originals and not expensive (MB wanted about 1200 € for my harness, he took 450 and the cable was ready in one day)

I can ask him if he makes them for diesels, too (which I never heard of messing up since they run much colder) - if you want.

no, it's only the 124s. And there only the ones after the facelift. Thats mostly because of the german law, which changed around the 90's in following way:

The "Greenes" how our, well, "save the planet - party" is called told the car-manufacturers to build their cars without "bad" chemicals such as glycerine in paints and diluents in cables. So the manufacturers started to buy those things without those chemicals. The problem there was, that the cables were not as good in withstanding heat as the old ones.

So a W124 before 1990 will be good with the cables.

You can do as you prefer with the cable, but one thing you should consider:

If you buy a genuine Mercedes part, it will be made out from just the same (crappy) material as the originals in your car. The guy who builds those harnesses uses just 100% silicone wrapped cables just made for this purpose.
