Need help

Hi all

I'm new happy MB owner from Finland.I have a 1995 MB300TD.
Few problems where I need help or maybe parts.
Overload relay burns 10A fuse.Then tachometer and also ELR don't work.
What I find some wires were bad condition.Expecially wires from ELR near engine block.What other places must check for this problem ???
When I change 10A fuse for Overloadrelay it work fine one week.
Now it burns 10a fuse right away.Also I'm interesting engine harness what I can use model to made new ones for ELR system or other ruined harness
what I find from engine compartment.
So let me know do some of you have correct used harness for this modell car
or place or places where I can buy it for reasonable price
Sorry I can't speak or write german.

Hi DB605A, welcome on board! Unfortunately I'm not familiar with any Diesel subjects, but I can offer some help with translation. Let's try:


Moin Jungs und Mädels, meint Ihr, wir können dem Kollegen aus Finnland helfen? Leider kenne ich mich mit Diesel-Themen nicht aus, kann aber bei Bedarf mit Übersetzungen helfen.

Ich verstehe sein Problem so: Das ÜSR brennt die 10A Sicherung durch, dann fallen Drehzahlmesser und ELR aus. Einige Kabel sind in schlechtem Zustand, besonders Kabel vom ELR in der Nähe vom Motorblock. Was muß bei diesem Problem noch überprüft werden? Eine neue Sicherung brachte eine Woche Ruhe, jetzt brennt sie sofort durch. Er will außerdem wissen, von welchen Typen die Kabelbäume als Ersatz für ELR-Verkabelung geeignet sind, ob hier jemand einen geeigneten KB anbietet, oder wo er günstigen Ersatz bekommen kann.

Hello!

I think the wires get against the engine and so you get a short also the ELR dosen`t work. Because the Problem is intermittent.
Look for the wire and repair the sites who are not isolated. Insulate it and then drive. If the problem exist anymore, write us back...

Bitte nicht lachen, mein Englisch ist nicht das Beste :D :D Wollte sagen, das er seine Kabelisolierung kontrollieren soll, weil ich vermute, da das ein sporadischer Fehler ist, dass die Leitung gegen Motormasse kommt so einen Kurzen verursacht, der die Sicherung fliegen lässt.

Maybe you can change several wires with new wires who have the same cross-section. The other idea I have is to buy a new cableform by Mercedes Benz.

What I find out is few part numbers and I'm not sure wich one is correct.

Then I need info for good MB part dealer in Germany.

Hi again

I check engine cable form set and part number is A1244404032.
Cable set looks bad. I isolated as best as I can, but better way is buy new one.
It has manufactured by 1993 but installed to car by 1995 so it's 15 years old.
Yes I can repair wires to make new ones,but if I repair one place I think old cable set is not much better in other areas.
Can you say good MB parts dealer in Germany who also send parts to other countries.www address and e-mail to seller is what I need. Do anyone know price for A1244404032 engine cable set ???
Is that very common problem in 300D and 300td cars ???
I'm very happy if someone of you can help me on this problem

Hello

there are different engine wiring harness. There are diffents between manual switching and automatic switching.
On the engine wiring harness of a manual switching is a additional Male for the Injection pump.

I have got the same problem but it is not so bad.

I think my problem is guite bad.Both ends of main harness is bad condition.
I isolated every wire about 20cm and still I get 10A fuse broken + ELR did not work and also tachometer stopped working too.It works day ot two very nice but then I get shortcut again.
I find part number A1244404032 from my wire set what I repair and my car is
5 speed manual automatic air condition
I.m still interesting to change new cableform set.I know then I have not problems via engine cable set for years.
ELR is very good when it's working.Here we get cold times by winter.
Just saw forecast and in north they -40 celsius.Here at south it going to be -10 to -15 celsius.Good luck I have engine heater wich helps a lot.
So address and e-mail to good germany MB dealer is nice think to me.

At my car was the Overloadrelay demage. My tachometer stopped sometimes and my air condition had not worked.
So i had changed it and and since then i have no problems. It cost 75 €.

Are there in Finland no Mercedes dealer for new Parts?

Yes we have MB dealers,but part pricing is something grazy.
If I buy it from Germany price + sending here is lower cost what price is here in local MB dealer.Also when I know good Germany MB parts dealer it's easier to order hard to find parts if there are these type parts
I don't want buy over price parts if there is possibility to buy parts with normal price.
Yes also I bought overload relay,because first I think the problem is there.
Price for this relay was 119 euros.Original MB part and I bought it from non MB part dealer.
But as I said relay is ok and cableform set for engine is bad condition.
Today here temperature is -12.MB starts nice.I use engine heater.
ELR don't work so engine runs low RPM,s
Eggy and friends if you can give me www address and maybe e-mail
to Germany MB dealer who send parts here I'm happy of it.

This next don't belongs here.
I bought MB 8-loch set with tires from Germany.Shipping to Finland 79 euros
via gls.Noy bad I think

Hello DB605A,

I did not expect that any of the discussed issues would affect myself, but I got a phone call today from the workshop which is currenly installing an LPG system into my E220. My engine harness is in bad condition, too, and the insulation breaks as they bend the cables working on them. So they convinced me that a new harness needs to be installed to avoid future troube. Material cost is around 750 Euro! Plus installation.

Bad, bad, bad! Best Regards from a fellow sufferer.

I think reason for this is MB cableform maker.I think it's not MB who made these cableforms.These cableforms are not made from very good material.
They save money to made this way,and also if we think how many years is normally age for car when it's ready for recycling my guess is 6 to 8 years.
None of car makers wan't cars last for ever.I still think MB is strongest build car.

But Mr A-bahnkurier if you change cableform to new one you don't have problems for over 10 years.And I really hope you do it if you keep your MB for many years
Now we are in same boat and wait new cableform sets to our cars.
I have read same problems from Finn MB board.So we are not alone with this

Today I asked cableform for my MB from Rosier Mercedes. ( Thanks Maverick )
Did not get answer yet.I hope they can help me on this teile question.

Yes, we are not alone with weak engine cables. This issue was discussed in this forum several times.

Although the cables are not manufactured by MB but from a supplier (my new harness if from Delphi), MB is still responsible for the specification, which is affecting quality, durability, and, of course, the price. Anyway, my workshop mechanic, who is working with MB cars since more than 20 years, told me that W124 harness is not the best.

Delphi is very big car parts manufaturer.
I hope their quality is better than old ones.
Who was cableform maker when MB starts W124 serie cars ???
I hope Rosier MB answer me soon and also sell this set for me.
I think I must only take intake manifold out of engine and then it's easy change cableform set to new one.
By the way how much you pay for diesel ???Here price is now 0.96 euros one litre
